Track Safety

Our goal at the Burnaby Velodrome is to make everyone’s experience on the track as safe and as risk-free as possible, from weekly training sessions to International-calibre race events. And, though our track may be smaller than other tracks in the region, it is not inherently more dangerous.

There are however a few unique considerations:

  • Watching for the lip between the Cote and the apron
  • Maintaining the minimum traction speed

These and any other safety considerations are always covered in our Learn to Ride and Learn to Race courses, it’s why they are mandatory for all first time riders and racers (it’s also why we’ve moved to a skills based progression for our coached workouts). In general there are no exceptions to this policy. This if for your safety and the safety of all other riders at the track.
