|
Membership: Please Read This First |
|
1. |
To ride at the Burnaby Velodrome, you must be a member of the Burnaby Velodrome Club a registered and insured club of Cycling BC.
|
2. |
To become a member of the Burnaby Velodrome Club (Step 1), you must be fully insured ($2.0 million liability). This is typically provided by those that have a Cycling BC License or are Cycling BC members. Most competitive cyclists hold a Full Racing License ($120/yr from Cycling BC). If you do, congrats, you have insurance.
|
3. |
If you come to the Burnaby Velodrome, you will be asked for
proof of your Cycling BC license/insurance coverage. This is your responsibility to provide -- we cannot have uninsured riders on the track, just like ICBC can't have uninsured car drivers on the roads.
|
| 4. | If you are planning on riding at the track this year you must become a registered user with the track, this includes annual members and drop in
riders. Registration is easy, visit our registration page and create an

This membership is the same as a full membership, but discounted for members who live on Vancouver island, in the US, east of Hope, or north of Whistler ).
Associate Memberships
New track cyclists who have taken a Learn to Ride and drop-in cyclists may or may not be able to hand over $448 for the year. Our annual fees are heavily discounted based on the cost of our rent and the annual payments we have to make every year. To encourage new members and hopefully turn new members into full members, we have an associate membership
fee, that makes you a member of the Burnaby Velodrome Club and allows you the opportunity to try out the track for relatively low cost. It is also necessary for the Club's insurance requirements (see below). $50 annually is the fee, then you are required to pay $20/drop-in and $10/rental bike if you do not own one.
Non-Riding Membership: $50 to $10,000
Friend or supporter of the Burnaby Velodrome? You can help out by purchasing a non-riding membership. This is by donation and we'll take as much as you're willing to give...
Drop-In Fees: $20
If you are just starting out and have never tried riding the track before, we have a $20 drop-in fee. Full
memberships are encouraged.
*Registering and Purchasing Memberships*
If you are planning on riding at the track this year you must become a registered user with the track, this includes annual members and drop in riders. Registration is easy, visit our registration page and create an account.
After logging in you can also purchase annual memberships, membership add ons like training and race passes, and drop in punchcards.
Remember, even if you only plan to pay drop in fees you must register and create an account online. Doing this now before you visit the track will speed up your next visit to the track, as you will be asked to register track-side if you haven't already done so online.
Insurance
All riders are required to have insurance and have signed a waiver before riding on the Burnaby Velodrome. Insurance is provided by Cycling BC, through its affiliate clubs insurance program.
If you do not have a full Road/Track Cycling BC license that covers you for liability and sports insurance (also known as a "race license") you will need to purchase Cycling BC general liability insurance through the Burnaby Velodrome Club or online via Karelo.com. As a member of the Club, you will be insured through the Club's insurance policy with Cycling BC. This will allow you to ride on the track. Cycling BC insurance is renewed on a yearly (calendar) basis: those riders who purchased 2010 insurance will require new 2011 insurance for riding the Velodrome in January 2011 onwards. All Non-Canadian Riders must have valid UCI coverage.
