George Mclaughlin – President
I am a Burnaby resident and a member of the Vancouver Velo Vets and have been riding at the track for a number of years. I have been a member of the Burnaby Velodrome Board for the past 4 years. The Burnaby Velodrome Club would not survive without volunteers so I decided to get involved. I look forward to the support of my fellow board members during my term as president.
I am a senior systems programmer working in a local software consulting firm that I co-own with two partners. I took up Road and Track racing about seven years ago after doing about five years mountain bike racing. My main interests are track racing in the winter and time trialling in the summer. I also help with two informal committees to help organize and set road racing venues in the Fraser Valley.
Roni has been a member of the Burnaby Velodrome Club since 2013. He has been cycling competitively on and off since he was 14 years old, racing cross country, downhill, road, track and cyclocross. Roni has degrees in engineering and law and he currently practices in the field of intellectual property law.
I’ve been a member of BVC since 2012, having turned up for an open day and instantly getting hooked. I’m also a member of Gastown Cycling and race for the Racing Reds at as many road and track events as possible. Having volunteered on the ground at a number of BVC events, I wanted to get even more involved in ensuring that we can continue to enjoy this gem of a facility for years to come. Professionally, I manage an IT department for an information communications company and have a degree in business information technology.
Derek has been a BVC member since 2012. After his first learn to ride, he went out an bought a track bike and membership. He’s also on the board of directors for Gastown Cycling. When he’s not on the bike, his real job is in Information Technology. Derek’s turn offs are smoking, rude people, and traffic.
I am a resident of New Westminster and have been a member at BVC for a couple years. My passion in competition started in aquatics and transitioned through competitive road running, cycling, triathlons, and track. I’ve been involved in sport as a coach and volunteer in numerous capacities and sports. To support my athletic endeavours I work for one of the professional regulatory bodies in the province. I have 20 years experience in the not-for-profit sector, an MBA and Master of Law. I hope to be of service to the members and seek to ensure the long term viability of track cycling in BC
